Manchester’s tourist information centre is being named the best venue for help across the country.
VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2012 declared the centre the winner along with numerous different venues across the North West which scooped major awards.
Joint winner in the B&B and guest accommodation was The Ashton, Lancaster, along with Pentille Castle & Estate, St Mellion, Cornwall.
England’s gardens are thriving from the recent rain and claimed the top tourism award and The English garden took the outstanding contribution to tourism prize.
VisitEngland chairman Viscountess Cobham said: “The English garden has been seducing visitors for hundreds of years, and we are delighted to be able to recognise the pleasure they bring to so many.
“Our green-fingered heritage is famous throughout the world, whether it’s the formal works of art by Capability Brown and co, or the cosy cottages in villages across the land. The beautiful English garden will always be with us, and will forever be adored by visitors of every age.”
The Outstanding customer service award went to Michael Gore, Best Western Premier Leyland Hotel, Preston.
These prestigious awards, currently in their 23nd year, promote excellence in England’s tourism industry and celebrate the very best the country has to offer.
