JOE MEWIS, a journalism student at News Associates, may still be learning his chosen trade, but he is proving to be a prodigious author after recently publishing his second book.
England on This Day is a day by day history of the England team, from the 1870s through to Fabio Capello’s reign and follows his first book Football On This Day.
Joe said: “Like all good ideas, we came up with this one over a beer whilst watching another hapless England friendly and decided to put our encyclopaedic football brains to good use for once.”
The 27-year-old, who lives in Leeds but grew up in Manchester, wrote the book with friend and fellow journalist Rob Burnett.
He balanced his writing with studying at Manchester’s News Associates for his NCTJ exams and a full time job as a marketing project manager.
Joe said: “If there’s one thing I’ve learnt in the last few months, it’s how to multi-task – working full-time, studying, maintaining a website and writing two books has meant I’m busier than Peter Crouch on the dancefloor, but I’m enjoyed it immensely and hopefully it should help me land a job in the industry.”
