A cocktail of celebrity chefs are set to join old favourites and new faces at this year’s Bolton Food and Drink Festival.
Scores of visitors are expected to descend on the town over the August Bank Holiday weekend to revel in the culinary delights of some of the world’s top chefs as the line-up is revealed.
Back by popular demand, The Great British Bake Off judges, Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood, will perform demos together on August 24 in a dedicated marquee on Victoria Square.
Mary said: “I received such a warm welcome from the people of Bolton last year that I was only too happy to return to the food and drink festival in August.
“Everyone was so friendly and it was heartening to see so much interest in the art of baking.”
The festival will see an abundance of fresh local produce, which delights Paul.
On last year’s festival, Paul said: “I was very impressed with Bolton and in particular their award-winning market.”
The festival, which attracted 102,000 visitors last year will be seasoned with culinary virtuosos across the weekend.
The two-Michelin starred chef, Michael Caines will launch the festival on the Friday with festival favourite, James Martin, taking over the hob on the Monday.
Italian and vegetarian cuisine specialist, Aldo Zilli will be the star attraction on the Sunday.
The current Chef Consiliere to the award-winning San Carlo group and author of ten books, Aldo said: “I’m passionate about fresh and local produce, so I can’t wait to see what Bolton has to offer.”
Bolton Council leader Councillor Cliff Morris said: “There is no doubt that Bolton Food and Drink festival is firmly on the map as one of the best events of its type and it just gets better and better each year.”
Cllr Morris also said that while last year’s event beat all previous records in terms of visitor numbers, the Council is determined to make this year’s event one to remember.
Tickets will go on sale in May and more details about the celebrity chef demos will be released soon.
