Vigil to be held in memory of murdered Manchester police officers one week after Hattersley shootings

A vigil is being held by to mark the one week anniversary when two Greater Manchester Police officers were shot dead while attending a ‘routine call’ in Hyde.

Colleagues, friends and family members of PCs Nicola Hughes, 23, and PCs Fiona Bone, 32, were dispatched to a home burglary in Hattersley but were gunned down at approximately 11am.

And officers are expected at Abbey Gardens – the scene of the horror incident – at around 10.45am today where short speeches will be read out by Chief Superintendent Nick Adderley and revered James Halstead.

A minutes silence will also be held in memory of the two fallen officers.

Dale Cregan, 29, of Droylsden, has appeared in court charged with the murder of both officers, as well as father and son David and Mark Short.
