Wigan woodland body: Police identify 26-year-old victim found in wheelie bin

The body of a man found in a wheelie bin in Wigan woodland was identified by Greater Manchester Police, yesterday.

Steven Lynch, 26, from Bickershaw was discovered by two walkers in an open area off Bickershaw Lane at 9.20am on Sunday March 25.

A post-mortem examination was carried out overnight to establish the cause of death as officers questioned three people aged 19, 21 and 24 arrested on suspicion of murder.

Detective Chief Inspector Jon Chadwick, of the Major Incident Team, said: “There are extra patrols in the area and this will continue over the next few days. I would encourage anyone with information or concerns to talk to us.”
