Police are trying to identify a young man who was found in a critical condition in Plattsfield Park yesterday morning.
At 5.35am, Tuesday February 28, officers were called to the Fallowfield park after a man was found in a water drainage route. The young male had suffered multiple head and body injuries after an assault.
The victim was discovered without ID and police are appealing to the public to help identify him. He is described as white, fair skinned with ginger, wavy hair. He is believed to be between 16 and 20 years old, of slim build and has blue/grey eyes. He was smartly dressed, wearing a blue checked shirt and burgundy cords, both from Topman. He was also wearing smart brown leather shoes.
Detective Inspector Terry Crompton from Longsight CID said: “This is a truly shocking case, which has left a young man lying critically injured in a hospital bed.
“It remains a priority for my team of detectives to identify this victim and establish what exactly has happened to him. We can now say with some confidence that we believe the majority of his injuries were caused by an assault, prior to him being found at the bottom of the embankment.
“We need people who were in the Platt Fields Park area on Monday night or the early hours of Tuesday morning to come forward and speak to us if you saw or heard anything.
“We also urge anyone who thinks they may know who this man is to give us a call. Does this description fit that of your brother, son, cousin or someone you work with that you haven’t seen for a couple of days? However insignificant you think your information may be, it could actually be vital to our investigation, so please get in touch.”
