Police release CCTV images of Asian woman believed to be ‘mangled’ body of Upper Brook Street collision

By Dean Wilkins

Police are releasing CCTV images of a woman who was horrifically killed in a traffic collision on Upper Brook Street, Longsight, yesterday.

Officers described the woman as Asian, with black hair, and she was wearing gold bangles on each wrist, had a pierced nose, a toe ring and was wearing saffron-coloured Asian clothing.

She is also believed to have had a black handbag, which has not yet been traced.

Officers are seeking a man in connection with the incident, after he picked up the shoes and handbag of an Asian woman after her remains were found in the middle of the road during morning rush hour.

Superintendent Wasim Chaudhry from Longsight police station said: “We have released CCTV images and a detailed description of the victim in the hope that someone will recognise her and get in touch with us.

“We have also released the image of a man we are keen to speak to.  This man has picked up the victim’s shoes and may also have picked up the victim’s handbag in good faith.

“We would urge him to contact the police as soon as possible as this handbag will hold the key to who she is. “

A 40-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and remains in police custody.
