A second lorry driver was arrested after a woman’s remains were found in the road on Upper Brook Street, Longsight, yesterday.

The man, 40, is being questioned by police on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after an unidentified body was discovered during Thursday’s rush hour traffic.

A 47-year-old man was previously arrested in Newton Heath on suspicion of murder but has been released without charge.

Inquiries are ongoing to try and identify the woman who is described as Asian, believed to be local to the area and had black hair. She was wearing gold bangles on each wrist, had a pierced nose, a toe ring and was wearing saffron-coloured Asian clothing.

She is also believed to have had a black handbag, which has not yet been traced.
