Mancunians are making the most of the heatwave we’re having.
From Spinningfields to Piccadilly Gardens, workers have been getting their dose of vitamin D, sun worshippers have been showing their devotion and children have been underestimating the soaking power of fountains.
Temperatures have been a glorious 26C today in Manchester, and the BBC’s trusted 5-day forecast is expecting another good few days of 20-degree highs – the Indian summer we were all hoping for but no one expected has finally arrived!
MAKING THE MOST OF IT: Spinningfields was packed
Clare Almond and Laura Moore, from an independent TV company, were enjoying their lunch in the sun. “If you eat outside you feel better for the rest of the day,” said Clare.
Laura said: “You have to make the most of your lunch time by getting outside; it’s a real mood enhancer.”
It’s good for business too.
Catherine May, receptionist at the Pin-up Bowling alley at Spinningfields said: “Everyone’s happier and buying more milkshakes!”
LAZY DAYS: You’ll be hard-pressed to find a free deck chair
Spinningfields is staying busy late into the evening as bars plug their happy hours to entice people after work.
The Pin-up bowling alley is open daily (from 11am ‘til late) until 6 November – just hope the weather lasts till then!
