HAPPY HOUND: Sarah Horner of Belle Vue Retired Greyhound Trust with former track dog Pedro

Belle Vue Stadium plays a big part in Manchester’s social and sporting scene, boasting a packed stadium every Thursday, Friday and Saturday as punters flock to watch the lightning-quick dogs roar round the circuit up to 14 times a night.

The stadium has underlined its importance to the community by launching a free charity events initiative to help local businesses support their favourite charities in these tough economic times.

Many charities are wary of hosting large fundraising events at the moment because of the financial pressures they are facing.

And the business community, traditionally an excellent source of help for charitable organisations, is obviously struggling to maintain its usual level of financial support.

So Belle Vue dog track has created a ‘no risk’ events programme to enable businesses to support their charities for free.

Firms are being offered the chance to receive a free executive suite, welcome drinks, buffet, race sponsorship and space for banners around the track in return for bringing at least 50 people along and incorporating a fundraising element for their chosen charity.

Anyone interested in this package should contact Denise Mullen at [email protected] or 07801182252. The track is just a few minutes from the centre of Manchester at Kirkmanshulme Lane, Gorton, Manchester, M18 7BA. Visit www.lovethedogs.co.uk for further details.
