Southampton will ‘ignore all bids’ for teen star Luke Shaw as Manchester City and United join transfer race

Manchester City and United are joining several big Premier League clubs in the hunt for Southampton starlet Luke Shaw but the club claimed they will ignore all bids.

The 16-year-old full-back was linked with a move away from St Mary’s and Champions League winners Chelsea are allegedly ready to offer £4million for him.

But despite further interest from both Manchester clubs and Arsenal, the Premier League newcomers will not sell another product of their fruitful academy.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Gareth Bale and Theo Walcott have all left The Saints after breaking into the first team but they will not allow Shaw to do the same.

The youngster has represented England and U-16 and U-17 level and will begin a three-year contract when he turns 17 next week.

Shaw looks set for a more important role this season as Southampton announced in May that he and three other academy players will join up the first-team squad for pre-season training.
