Speculation about a ferocious training ground bust-up between Manchester City’s Roberto Mancini and Mario Balotelli is ‘not true’, insists the Italian boss.
A series of images circled the backs pages today following a heated argument between the two, after Balotelli allegedly went in too hard in a challenge with Scott Sinclair.
But after grappling with his enigmatic striker and eventually storming off the pitch, Mancini insists that the episode was ‘nothing special’.
“I think the photos show the worst of what happened,” said the former Inter Milan boss.
“There was no fight, this was not true, we were playing a game and Mario kicked his teammate.
“I said to him, ‘Go inside, leave the pitch’. He said no and I took his shirt and pushed him out of the pitch.
“This is what really happened, nothing special.”
And when asked if he lost his temper Mancini admitted that for a few seconds his patience was worn out with Balotelli – who is currently rumoured to be looking for a swift exit from the Etihad this January transfer window.
“He can’t do this against no one, but then it was finished.”
