Young defender Reece Brown has been recalled from Manchester United after six months on loan with Coventry City.

The 21-year-old started his temporary deal brightly and played ten games for the Sky Blues, but has not featured since their away win at Oldham in September.

Mark Robins’ arrival at the Ricoh Arena eventually faded out Brown’s chances of becoming a regular and he has now returned to Old Trafford.

“Coventry City would like to thank Reece Brown for his services and wish him the best for his future career,” a spokesman for the club said.

Brown, the younger brother of former United and England defender Wes Brown, has been with the club since he was nine years old and is yet to make his first-team debut.

As speculation surrounding their goalkeeping position grows, United have also recalled youngster Ben Amos from Hull City.

However, David de Gea has now started the Reds’ last eight games and appears to have regained the confidence of his manager.
