Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has vowed to make Olympic sprint champion Usain Bolt’s dream come true, by offering to sort out a trial for him at Old Trafford.
There has been talk before about Bolt, who won the Olympic 100m gold on Sunday night, heading to Old Trafford on trial.
And the Jamaican sprinter said that if the call from Sir Alex came, he’d find it hard to turn down.
“People think I am joking. But if Alex Ferguson called me up and said, ‘OK let’s do this, come and have a trial’, it would be impossible for me to say no,” he said.
And if Ferdinand has his way, Bolt will be lining up for the Reds next season.
The veteran defender sent the runner a message on Twitter, saying he would ‘speak to the boss’, meaning Sir Alex, if Bolt was serious.
Ferdinand said: “If you want that trial at Man Utd shout me, I’ll speak to the boss!! Well done in 100m, waiting for you to smash the 200m now!”
And Bolt, who is no stranger to the city having raced down Deansgate back in 2009, replied: “After the Olympics we work on that…lol..thanks man.”
