Wilfred Zaha on cusp of £12million transfer to Manchester United as Reading eye Danny Welbeck loan deal

Young Crystal Palace ace Wilfred Zaha is on the cusp on a move to Manchester United after rival clubs pulled out of transfer talks.

The £12million-rated forward has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford after an impressive stint in the Championship earned him his full England debut during November’s friendly against Sweden.

And with the 20-year-old’s transfer deal rumoured to have already been agreed, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal have dropped their discussions in belief Sir Alex Ferguson has captured his man.

Although the Scot has previously dismissed talks that anyone new would be coming into the team this transfer window, Palace are reported to be hoping for a deal that would see Zaha loaned back to them for the rest of the season.

United’s alleged transfer activity ahead of their Sunday showdown with Liverpool has stepped up a gear as England striker Danny Welbeck is reported to be close to agreeing a loan move to Premier League strugglers Reading.

Reports suggest that the 22-year-old, who is struggling to secure a place in United’s starting line-up, could be on his way to the Madejski Stadium to keep his sharpness in front of goal.

Despite grabbing himself just one goal in 22 games this season, Welbeck has always been told by his manager that he is part of his plans.

Sir Alex’s men host old foes Liverpool on Sunday in a game that could see them stretch their Premier League lead to ten points, as second place City travel to Arsenal in the day’s late kick-off.
