Nemanja Vidic’s agent ‘categorically’ denies Juventus transfer rumours for injured Manchester United captain

Nemanja Vidic’s agent is ‘categorically’ dismissing any rumours linking the Serbian with a move away from Manchester United.

The 30-year-old centreback has been Sir Alex Ferguson’s defensive rock since his £7million move from Spartak Moscow in 2005 but has struggled with injuries in the past year.

And despite the United captain being sidelined with surgery, speculations linking him with a switch to Barcelona and Juventus have still be circling – but they are incorrect according to his agent Silvano Martina.

The Serb’s representative told Italian media: “Vidic is already part of a top club and there are no negotiations with Juventus or Barcelona.

“Vidic is not playing at this time because he’s had surgery, so he’s only thinking about his recovery and not about the transfer market.

“Juventus are complete with their non-EU players for this season and it is highly unlikely they will make a bid for Vidic, therefore I can categorically rule out any interest from them.”

Vidic returned from an eight-month lay-off injury in August but struggled to overcome his knee problems and was ruled out for a further two months in September.

And with Fergie’s weakening back four being severely tested by the likes of Southampton and Fulham it will come as great relief to know his talisman defender is staying put.
