With Pablo Zabaleta’s consistency earning him the unofficial accolade of the Premier League’s best rightback, it’s little surprise that he has now scooped back-to-back Manchester City Player of the Month awards.
The Argentine stand-in skipper stormed to another landslide victory, earning 57% of fans’ vote and helping him pip David Silva, Javi Garcia, James Milner and Joe Hart to the award.
With two stellar performances against Stoke City and another away to Arsenal, Zabaleta has cemented his role in Roberto Mancini’s squad.
And as the irate Italian promises to axe players who fail to show commitment in the hunt for consecutive Premier League titles, Zabaleta’s name will always be first on Mancini’s team sheet.
Despite their 12-point gap behind league leaders Manchester United, the Blues may take solace from not being lumbered with the hectic nature of Champions League fixtures.
And after last lifting the FA Cup in 2011, Mancini’s men can seal their place in the quarter-finals with victory over Leeds on Sunday.
