Brazilian flair fires up Manchester United faithful as Rafael’s Liverpool wonder strike nets Goal of the Month

By Dean Wilkins

Brazilian flair is not only earning vital results for Manchester United and outshining old favourites, but is also receiving a mountain of praise from fans as Rafael scooped yet another award this season.

The 22-year-old was named as the club’s Player of the Month for September and his superb equaliser against Liverpool is also fans’ Goal of the Month.

The fullback stormed forward and curled in a sumptuous left-footed striker during a raucous tie at Anfield and earned 61% of the club’s poll – the nearest contender was Alex Buttner’s debut strike against Wigan that earned 15%.

Speaking after the match, the Brazilian said: “It’s definitely the best one I’ve scored for United. It was a good moment to get it because it was so quick after they scored.

“I was so pleased [to score] for the fans. They always give me such great support and I know this is an important game for them so I’m very happy.”
