Stockport’s Tony O’Shea one match away from being crowned BDO World Darts Champion

By Steven Oldham

Tony O’Shea will play fellow Englishman Scott Waites in the final of the BDO World Darts Championships today after beating Wesley Harms 6-4 in the semi finals

O’Shea – preparing for his third Lakeside final appearance after being runner up in 2009 and 2012 – lead 4-2 before letting his Dutch opponent level at 4-4.

The Romiley-based player managed to take the next two sets however to set up the final with Waites, who thrashed his opponent Ricky George 6-1.

Speaking to BBC Sport, he said:  “I’ve been in good form this week and I think there’s more in the tank.

Wesley showed what quality he has to come back but I showed in the last two sets I’m not as old as everyone thinks I am.”

O’Shea apologised to his young opponent after a shout from the crowd distracted him and cost him a possible checkout and leg victory.

Live coverage of the final is available on both BBC Two and ESPN from 5.45pm
