Sale Sharks’ Will Addison believes he can do a team job as they look for their first win of the season against Cardiff Blues in the Heineken Cup.
Addison – who had a try controversially disallowed against Leicester Tigers – started the season on the wing as injuries and suspension took their toll.
The Cumbrian-born star insists that while he wants a long-term move inside, he is hoping that he can contribute to kick-starting Sale’s season.
“I’m hoping to get back involved in the centre because that’s where I play my best rugby,” said the 20-year-old.
“I’m happy to play anywhere, but centre is where I’d like to be playing.
“It’s not too much about trying to cement a place – it’s more about the team at the moment, because of where we are in the Premiership.
“We’ve got a great opportunity in these two weeks to get a run of form against some great opposition and really kick on into the Worcester game the week after.”
Director of rugby Bryan Redpath doesn’t believe the change will be a problem, backing the young Cumbrian to excel.
He said: “Will Addison is a very talented player. He’s had to fill in on the wing to cover injuries and suspension, but I view him as a natural thirteen.”
Nathan Fowles, Mark Jennings and Tommy Taylor are all named in the starting fifteen, with Fowles to team up at half back with Nick Macleod.
Jennings makes his senior debut on the right wing, whilst Taylor is at hooker in an unchanged pack.
