I can’t get out: Manchester United midfielder Anderson reveals failed attempts to escape Old Trafford

By Paddy von Behr

Anderson has tried to leave Manchester United many times, but never succeeded, according to the Brazilian midfielder.

The former Porto man, who has three years remaining on his current deal, revealed today his numerous attempts to escape Old Trafford.

But, for whatever reason, the 24-year-old has never been allowed to move on from the Premier League leaders.

“What can I say? I have three more years of contract, I have tried to leave many times and never succeeded to do so,” he told Brazilian TV show Globo Esporte.

Anderson has struggled with injuries over the past couple of seasons, making just 20 Premier League appearances since the start of the 2011/12 campaign.

But he has impressed on occasions this season and is looking to return to regular action to help Manchester United clinch the title and the Champions League.

He has also been absent from the Brazilian national team since 2008 – a record he hopes to put to an end soon.

He said: “The national team is always good but we have to think about the second leg and about the English league.”
