London 2012 Olympics stars set to shine as National Badminton Championships return to Manchester

Stars of this year’s London Olympics are set to grace Manchester when the English National Badminton Championships heads to the city next February.

The event, which takes place at the National Cycling Centre between February 1 and 3 will feature Olympian and five-time English champion Rajiv Ouseph, as well as World Championship silver medallist Chris Adcock.

The cycling venue will be transformed into a badminton arena, showcasing the cream of the nation’s talent and several aspiring medal hopefuls for Rio 2016.

Badminton England Chief Executive Adrian Christy said: “The Nationals are always are great way to start our season of major events and we are delighted to be returning to Manchester, where we have enjoyed the tremendous support of Manchester City Council for almost a decade.”

Councillor Rosa Battle, Manchester City Council executive member for culture and leisure, said: “It’s brilliant to see the English National Badminton Championships return to Manchester in 2013 and it’s a welcome addition to our packed program of sporting events next year.”
