Ex-England and Lancashire fast-bowler Sajid Mahmood penalised by ECB after insulting umpires

By Dean Wilkins

Ex-England and Lancashire fast-bowler Sajid Mahmood is being penalised after insulting match umpires last Thursday.

Mahmood received a penalty under the England and Wales Cricket Board’s discipline code after a Level One breach against umpires Peter Willey and Steve O’Shaughnessy.

During Lancashire’s and Derbyshire’s Friends Life t20 game Mahmood used language that is obscene, offensive or insulting and received three penalty points.

The Bolton-born cricketer is three points off being suspended by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) as he now holds six penalty points.

The accumulation of nine or more penalty points in any two year period will result in an automatic suspension.
