Edin Dzeko is confident Manchester City can repeat last season’s title-winning comeback by pressuring league-leaders Manchester United into slipping up again.
City reduced their rivals’ seven-point lead at the top of the Premier League this weekend, after United conceded a late equaliser at White Hart Lane.
And the Bosnian striker believes the Citizens simply need to keep winning and Sir Alex Ferguson’s side will feel the pressure.
“We have to just keep doing what we’re doing,” Dzeko told the club website.
“I think Manchester United will drop points sooner or later but we just need to keep winning and keep the pressure on them.”
As City chased the 19-time champions in April last year, manager Roberto Mancini declared ‘only one team can win this title.’
But, on a dramatic final day of the season, Sergio Aguero struck in injury time and City claimed their first Premier League trophy.
This time round, Dzeko has kicked-off the mind games early and assistant manager David Platt also believes a comeback is possible.
“It’s not over, we can make it up,” he said. “It’s not insurmountable by any stretch of the imagination. But equally, it’s theirs to lose.
“It’s very very difficult for us to go on and win the next 15 games on the bounce. But I think we’re capable of doing it.”
City visit Stoke in the FA Cup next weekend, before continuing their assault on United with a trip to Queens Park Rangers in midweek.
