No injury concerns for Paul Dickov as Oldham Athletic hunt second away win in Brentford clash

By Pippa Field

Competition for a place in Saturday’s starting line-up is high as Oldham Athletic look to make it four League One games unbeaten with a visit to Brentford.

Faced with the luxury of a full squad to choose from, manager Paul Dickov faces a dilemma over which strike force to go with.

Starting alongside Matt Smith, loanee Matt Derbyshire scored in the midweek 1-1 draw with Scunthorpe, adding to his goal already scored since his six-week move from Nottingham Forest.

Both Robbie Simpson and Jose Baxter, who marked his Latics debut last weekend with a late leveller against Notts County last weekend, are also pushing for a place after being on the bench for the Irons game.

“I think I’ve got the best squad I’ve got since I’ve been here and it gives me options to chop and change as regards to who we’re playing against,” Dickov told BBC Radio Manchester.

Defender Connor Brown is back from a three-match suspension but is unlikely to replace on-loan Manchester City defender Reece Wabara at right-back, as is goalkeeper Alex Cisak who was replaced in midweek by Dean Bouzanis.

Brentford, sitting six places above Oldham in 12th, have no major injury worries ahead of the game at Griffin Park, with midfielder Adam Forshaw fully fit after a recent abdominal complaint.

Oldham fans will also recognise a familiar face in the Brentford side with Tom Adeyemi, who spent last season on loan at the club, set to start alongside Harry Forrester – scorer of the Bee’s equaliser in the 2-2 midweek draw at Bournemouth.
