Promising Brazil winger Lucas Moura is attracting interest from Manchester United, claims Sir Alex Ferguson after an offer was denied.
The Reds’ boss denied that an agreement had been made between both clubs as the 19-year-old trickster continues his preparation as part of the Olympics squad.
The Sao Paulo star – expected to cost the club £26million – has been linked with United in recent weeks, days after Fergie confirmed a bid for Arsenal captain Robin van Persie.
“It’s not correct,” said the Scot. “We haven’t reached an agreement for the player. We’ve shown an interest but until we get a deal agreed we can’t say he’s our player.”
“We’ve signed two players in the summer: Kagawa and Powell,” he added. “We think they both have fantastic potential.
“At this moment we’re looking at other options in terms of bringing other players in. We’re not lying on our backsides doing nothing. We’re trying hard to bring other players to the club.”
