Stockport County forward Danny Hattersley is thanking fans and the wider football community after knocking himself unconscious following a failed overhead kick.
Hattersley fell unconscious in the first minute of Stockport’s Fourth Qualifying Round FA Cup tie against Stalybridge Celtic on Saturday after falling awkwardly from the attempted wonder-goal.
He was unconscious for ten minutes and was rushed to Manchester Royal Infirmary, but was released later in the day with a clean bill of health.
A club spokesman said: “The club was subsequently inundated with enquiries from fans and the press.
“We’re pleased to report that Danny is up and about as normal, and the club are currently awaiting the results of an X-ray.
“Danny would like to thank County fans and all members of the football family who expressed their concern following Saturday’s game.”
County went on to win the game 5-3 and now face a tie away at Southend United in the First Round Proper, to be played on Saturday 3 November.
