Fulham fans set to show support for Manchester United faithful’s anti-Glazer campaign by wearing green and gold

Fulham fans are set to show their support for Manchester United supporters’ ongoing campaign against the Glazer family by wearing green and gold scarves at Old Trafford this afternoon.

Around 500 fans of the West London side are expected in the city for the Premier League tie.

And the Fulham Supporters Trust has revealed they plan to show solidarity with United fans by joining in the protest against the Reds’ American owners.

Dan Crawford, communications and media director of Fulham Supporters Trust, said: “Fulham fans are grateful for Manchester United Supporter Trust’s (MUST) support during our campaign to return Fulham FC to Craven Cottage.

“Our own campaign has reached a successful conclusion with the club being granted planning permission expanding the stadium to 30,000.

“Like fans at many clubs I’ve become increasingly concerned over recent years by the activities of owners like the Glazers abusing our clubs and the loyalty of the fans for their own ends.

“The fans are the lifeblood of any club and parasitic owners like the Glazers are draining that lifeblood away.”

MUST is hoping to further increase the pressure on the Glazers through the green and gold campaign which is based on the colours worn by Newton Heath, the club founded in 1878 that then became Manchester United in 1902.

A spokesman said: “This is a tremendous show of solidarity. If a group of away fans can do this United fans should use it as a spur to up our game and rebuild the powerful green and gold campaign over the coming season.”
