Out-of-favour Nani puts Manchester United future in hands of God as Juventus continue transfer chase

Out-of-favour Manchester United winger Nani is putting his future with the club in the hands of God as he still struggles to force his way back into the squad.

The 25-year-old Portuguese wideman is linked with a January move away from Old Trafford – Italian giants Juventus are the favourites to pounce at the chance to sign him.

And as Sir Alex Ferguson experiments with a diamond formation – forcing Nani into a benchwarming role – the restless winger revealed that he is unsure of his future at United.

“Only God knows what awaits me,” Nani told The Sun. “I am in perfect condition – I am physically good and feeling confident. I am the same Nani as always.”

Nani has made only a handful of appearances this season and was brought on for the injured Shinji Kagawa against FC Braga at half-time – his width sparked United into action as they came back from two goals down to earn a 3-2 win.

Fergie deployed an uncharacteristic diamond formation to keep his opponents guessing and is eager to keep tweaking his tactics in order to continue competing with the best in Europe.

“If it turns out we play the diamond consistently it would be revolutionary because it is going against our history,” said Ferguson.

“But the level of the game in England and Europe now is so high that making yourself unpredictable is going to be a strength.

“Teams will have to think if we are going to use two out wide or the diamond because we have players capable of doing both things.

“Kagawa and [Tom] Cleverley can play really well in the type of game that a diamond offers, whilst in Nani, Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia we have very good wide players.”

Nani has made more than 275 appearances, netting 49 times, for the Reds since joining United for around £20million in 2007.
