Barcelona manager makes first signing as Manchester City youngster Joan Angel Roman leaves for £10million

Spanish giants Barcelona completed the transfer of Manchester City starlet Joan Angel Roman on three-year deal today.

The 19-year-old midfielder joined the Blues from the Catalonia side’s rivals Espanyol in 2009 but failed to make a strong enough impression to break into the first-team.

The deal, worth around £10million, is the first under new coach Tito Vilanova (who takes charge on July 1) and Roman is expected to slot into the club’s B team.

“Being in England for three years has helped me to mature a lot and to become physically stronger,” said Roman in a statement on the club’s official website.

“I’m raring to start and start learning.

“When I heard Barca were interested in me, that was my priority. I can assure you that I’ll work hard and give everything I can out on the pitch.”
