He doesn’t understand English: Fabio Capello taunts Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney for poor Euro 2012

By Dean Wilkins

Former England manager Fabio Capello is taunting Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney for only understanding ‘Scottish’.

The Italian 66-year-old quit his role with England in February and has faced a mountain of criticism from players who claimed his tactics were ‘lost in translation’.

But Capello blamed Rooney’s two-match ban, poor performances and lack of English for the country’s Euro 2012 exit.

“After seeing the latest game, I think Rooney only understands Scottish,” Capello told Italian radio.

“That’s because he only plays well in Manchester, where Sir Alex Ferguson speaks Scottish.”

Rooney scored his first goal in a major tournament since the 2004 Euros but has been in scintillating form for his club this season – netting 35 times.
