Japanese juggler: Manchester United samurai looks sharp in freestyle show across city for new noodle ad

You may have been somewhat puzzled to see a red samurai performing freestyle football in Piccadilly Gardens yesterday.

Samurai may well have fallen on hard times this century, but the ancient warriors have not actually taken to busking on the streets, despite appearances.

MM can reveal the masked maestro was in fact a member of CUBE, a Japanese freestyle soccer team, and showed off his skills as part of a video for new Manchester United sponsor Nissin Foods.

PAINT THE TOWN RED: The stunt is set to be revealed on Sunday

Part of an online campaign, the footage will feature in a video publicising the sponsorship and will reportedly also include clips taken on rooftops and in warehouses.

The red samurai will kick his way through Manchester, allegedly being chased by a ninja along the way, before ending his journey at Old Trafford.

NOODLELICIOUS: Nissin is one of the most popular range of noodles in Asia

Nissin’s partnership with United was announced in July and has already seen their products advertised by some of the club’s biggest stars, including Robin van Persie.

The short film is expected to be debuted during half time at Old Trafford on Sunday, when the Red Devils face Queens Park Rangers in the Barclays Premier League.

WARRIOR SPIRIT: United fans will be hoping their team put up a fight against QPR

The company is still relatively unknown in the UK, but is hoping to branch out with their cup noodle range.
