The hunt is on for three men suspected of stealing £800 worth of ladies clothes from the Altrincham branch of Marks and Spencers in broad daylight last month.

The three men fled from the George Street store on Wednesday June 25 with 10 pairs of dark blue jeans and 30 floral patterned scarves stuffed into a Next and Sports Direct bag.

After making their way over to the ladieswear section of the shop and posing as prospective customers, they were caught on camera stashing the clothes into the bags at around 2:40pm.

Police Constable Geoff Donley said: "It is clear these men worked together to steal a large amount of clothing from this store.

"It was obviously a pre-planned criminal enterprise to shoplift these goods.”

One man then fled the shop with the bulging bag and was soon followed by his accomplices about a minute later.

All three men were last seen walking up George Street towards Regent Road.

Police are now hoping releasing a CCTV still of the incident will help them catch the three men.

PC Donley said: "I would urge people to look carefully at the CCTV still we have released and if you have any information or recognise the three people then please call us.”

Police also urged anyone who believes they have come into contact with the stolen goods to help them catch the offenders.

“Alternatively, I would ask if anyone is offered either jeans or a scarf with the Indigo brand name of Marks and Spencers from anyone other than a licensed dealer to be on their guard and call us immediately," said PC Donley.

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
