Bem Brasil brought the colourful sights of the Brazil carnival to Altrincham on Thursday as dancers literally stopped traffic to open up their new restaurant.

The restaurant, famous for their succulent charcoal dishes, stopped traffic on Ashley Road as beautiful Brazilian dancers and rousing drum beats echoed through the streets to celebrate the opening of the new branch.

The restaurant will also create 20 jobs in conjunction with the regeneration of Altrincham town centre.

Kleber Magalhaes, founder of Bem Brasil said: “The £70m investment planned to regenerate Altrincham will bring people back into the town so there’s real potential and opportunity in the area.

“Many years ago I worked there as a waiter, so it’s good to be investing and helping to revive the local economy while bringing something a bit different to restaurant goers.”

Altrincham’s Bem Brasil will be the company’s first location outside of Manchester City Centre where a restaurant in Deansgate and the Northern Quarter have already stamped their mark on authentic Brazilian food.

Bem Brasil has gained momentum in the UK for their selection of 15 dishes and rustic atmosphere as well as specialist decor, knives and cutlery imported from Brazil.

Mr Magalhaes added: “Bem Brasil has gone from strength to strength in the North West and with Brazil hosting the World Cup next year and the Olympics in 2016, we anticipate even greater interest in the best of all things Brazilian, which is what we can offer.”
