Cesc Fabregas rejects Manchester United for ‘dream’ Barcelona stay as David Moyes misses out on top target

By Alex Bysouth

New Manchester United boss David Moyes looks set to miss out on his number one transfer target after Cesc Fabregas revealed he will fight for his Barcelona spot.

The former Arsenal midfielder, who started his career with the Spanish giants, has struggled to make an impact since returning to the club two years ago.

But the 26-year-old insists he is not about to walk away from the Catalunia side he dreamt of playing for as a youngster.

“If Barcelona said that they didn’t want me, that would be another thing – but what I truly want is to triumph at Barcelona,” he told radio station Onda Cero.

“That’s been my dream since I was a kid – it has taken a lot for me to get where I am, and I am not thinking about throwing it all away for nothing.

“The way in which some people always invent things is fascinating.”

Moyes is thought to have seen Fabregas, a World Cup and European Championship winner with Spain, as the perfect addition to his new United squad.

Proven in the Premier League during his time at Arsenal, the Scot was reportedly willing to pay upwards of £30million to get the midfielder to Old Trafford.

However, Fabregas has had to deal with the Barcelona boo-boys on occasions this season, but is prepared to shake off the criticism and focus on his football.

“If people boo me then I will have to cope with that,” he added.
