Manchester cinema enthusiasts looking to buy their own slice of film history have the chance to purchase their very own cinema seats during a special online sale.
Stockport Plaza is making way for 1,250 replica or original cinema seats by selling the existing red, blue and purple 18-inch wide seating at £40 per seat (sold in a minimum of two) on eBay.

Film-loving lovebirds also have the chance to snap up double seats – perfect for snuggling up and, of course, watching a film together.

General Manager of Stockport Plaza, Ted Doan, explained that when the theatre was saved by the community back in 1999 it was filled with seats places including The Regal in Northwich.
Renovation work that is set to be carried out later this year will see the clock turned back to its glory days of 1932.
He said: “The plan is to restore the theatre to her former glory and go right back to the opening night.

“We have quite a lot of emails already from people asking to reserve certain sections of the seating.
“We rely on the kind support of our local community and don’t get external funding so every penny from the sale will go into the ongoing renovation project.”
Buyers will have to pick up seats from the 1930s art deco cinema and variety theatre on August 10 and 11.

The proceeds of the sale will go towards funding the Plaza’s new renovation project and will help ensure that the show, does indeed, go on.
