Body found in burning skip outside Manchester Apollo ‘was not murdered’

The body found inside a burning skip outside Manchester’s Apollo music venue yesterday wasn’t murdered, police have confirmed.

Police were called to the Apollo Theatre on Stockport Road, Ardwick at around 5.30am yesterday morning after fire-fighters found a body.

Fire-fighters had earlier been called to extinguish a fire which had started in a skip wagon near to the property.

When they put out the fire they discovered the remains of a body inside.

Police investigating the discovery of the body have now confirmed no longer treating the death as suspicious.

A police spokesman said there ‘is not believed to be any third party involvement and enquires are on going to establish the exact cause of death and how the fire was started’.

Officers have identified the 43-year-old man and his family have been informed, however a formal identification has not yet taken place.
