Manchester United manager David Moyes’ days at the helm of the club are numbered, according to various media sources on Monday.
A day after the English champions’ lacklustre 2-0 defeat at Moyes’ old team Everton, social media was awash with speculation about the United manager’s future.
Moyes, who spent over 10 years at Goodison Park, has been at United for 347 days following Sir Alex Ferguson’s 26-year, 38-trophy reign that brought the club international billing and sponsors.
Although Moyes inherited a team unlikely to defend their top flight crown, the Scot has overseen United’s worst season in the Premier League.
United currently sit seventh and are guaranteed to finish this season with their lowest PL points haul.
Their lower than usual finish also means United will miss out on Champions League action next season for the first time in almost 20 years.
Borussia Dortmund’s Juergen Klopp, Dutchman Louis van Gaal and United veteran Ryan Giggs have all been mentioned in reports about who United’s next manager could be should Moyes get the chop.
If, as expected, the announcement comes this week, the most likely time would be before tomorrow’s trading starts at 2.30pm UK time.
