Sale Sharks’ Danny Cipriani hit by double-decker bus on night out in Leeds – star recovers in hospital

By James Scott

Sale Sharks fly-half Danny Cipriani is in hospital after being hit by a double-decker bus in Leeds on a night out.

The 25-year-old – on a night out with his Sharks team-mates – was treated for concussion at the scene before being taken to hospital for overnight checks.

The former England international’s manager, James Williamson, told the Sun that Cipriani suffered the collision when mistiming his run across the road.

“Danny’s spending the night in hospital,” Williamson told the Sun. “X-rays and scans will be carried out overnight.

“He’s obviously in pain. He was running across the road and just misjudged the speed of the bus.”

The incident took place outside the Dry Dock pub in Leeds, as the players took part in the infamous ‘Otley Run’ student pub crawl.

Cipriani has made 17 appearances for Sale since signing from Melbourne Rebels in January, racking up more than 100 points with the boot.
