WATCH: Real-life Mario Kart takes to streets of Manchester ahead of Play Expo

A real-life game of Mario Kart took place on the streets of Manchester this week to whip up excitement at the city hosting the Play Expo next month.

Play Expo, one of Europe’s biggest gaming conventions, takes place on October 8-9 at EventCity.

The event will include a variety of competitions, guest speakers and gaming opportunities both old and new for fans to enjoy.

And to celebrate, game favourites Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach and Toad raced themselves through Market Street and made their way up towards Albert Square, the Great Northern and Old Trafford.

The characters also took a detour on Manchester’s Metrolink service along the way.
