Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero ruled out for a month through injury – League Cup final appearance in doubt

By Alan Ross

Manchester City’s Argentinian forward Sergio Aguero has been ruled out for a month with a hamstring injury, putting his chance of appearing in the Capital One Cup final in doubt.

With the match against Sunderland at Wembley just over a month away Aguero faces a challenge to be back fit in time.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini confirmed that the striker, who has scored 26 times this season, is out of action but is confident others can fill the void.

“Yes, we are losing one of our best players, but he’s just come back from an injury,” the Chilean said.

“He will be out for maybe a month.

“We have Dzeko, Negredo and now Jovetic scoring so we have good players who can replace him. “

With the transfer deadline fast approaching Pellegrini said that he had no news about potential transfer targets despite City being linked with the Porto pair of Eliaquim Mangala and Fernando.

“I’m sorry, I have no news for you. Tomorrow you will know what happened,” he added.

With victory in midweek against Tottenham the Sky Blues moved to the top of the table but with  Chelsea visiting the Etihad on Monday Pellegrini said his men are full focussed on the task in hand.

“We are not thinking about titles. We are thinking about improving and winning every game,” the former Malaga manager stated.
