Witness appeal: Moston woman on mobility scooter mowed down and killed

An elderly Moston woman has been knocked off her mobility scooter and killed during a road collision – GMP are appealing for witnesses to come forward to help trace the driver of the car. 

Margaret Wood, 79, was driving her mobility scooter on Lightbowne Road near the junction on Nuthurst Road, Moston, when she was hit by a silver Seat Leon at around 5.45pm on Wednesday March 25. 

Ms Wood, who suffered head injuries, was taken to ho hospital but sadly died on Friday March 27.

Police Constable Paul Hailwood, from The Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “My sympathies are with Margaret’s family and friends at this tragic time.

“We have launched an investigation and are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to come forward so we can piece together the moments before the incident.”
