Bury boss sacking: Shakers on hunt for new manager as poor run costs Kevin Blackwell job

By Mancunian Matters staff

Bury are on the hunt for a new manager after axing Kevin Blackwell following a poor start to the campaign.

The Shakers slumped to 21st in League Two on Saturday following a 2-0 defeat to Morecambe.

Former Sheffield United boss Blackwell, who signed 26 players in pre-season following the club’s relegation from League One, was confident he could turn the club’s fortunes around.

But a statement on the club’s website today read: “Bury FC have terminated the contract of manager Kevin Blackwell with immediate affect.

“A further statement will be released later today.”

Former Bury favourite Ronnie Jepson, who was assistant to Blackwell, is expected to take temporary charge of the side.
