The Manchester Flower Festival has returned to the city centre

The Manchester Flower Festival is back and after a gloomy start was in full bloom on Saturday.

The festival, which has been coined the most Instagram-able event in Manchester, has taken over the city centre.

Local artists and florists created an array of different sculptures and art pieces to present this year’s theme – Icons.

Some of the highlights include a Girls Aloud tribute in floral dresses (by Vendure Floral Design), a Gandalf sculpture to honour Sir Ian McKellen (by Clocktower Florist) and a sculpture in honour of Sufragette Emmeline Pankhurst (by the Manchester Flower Festival and Decordia).

With food and drink stands, workshops and sensory gardens, the event offers opportunities for young and old to enjoy themselves while they appreciate the beauty of nature.

The festival is running until the 27th of May with maps and itineraries being available online or at the festival itself.
