TNA to record first international wrestling pay-per-view show in Manchester

By Steven Oldham

Manchester’s wrestling fans will be the first to see TNA’s British Empire Cup pay-per-view, with the event to be filmed at the Phones 4U Arena in January.

Part of the One Night Only series, the Manchester filming will be the company’s first to be recorded outside of the USA. Joker’s Wild 2 will be filmed in Birmingham two days later.

More wrestlers have been confirmed for the 2014 Maximum Impact tour, including the Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle, British Boot Camp winner Rockstar Spud and Brooke Tessmacher.

Kurt said: “The UK fans have been begging us to hold a PPV over there for years, so I can’t wait to tape two of them and make another piece of British wrestling history.

I absolutely love coming to the UK, as does everyone on the roster, so I am delighted to be returning in 2014.”

The show will feature an eight man tournament, with seven top TNA stars hoping to win the Cup, which will be defended in future UK tours.

The eighth and final spot will be decided by a battle royal between top British and international talent. The TNA Knockouts will also compete for their own trophy.

Tag team champions Robbie E and Jesse Godderz will be on the plane, alongside Kazarian, Christopher Daniels, Knux and former Knockouts champion ODB.

The latest announcements will join the likes of Bully Ray, Magnus and Bobby Roode, with almost 20 stars announced with three months until the tour hits UK shores.

All four of the company’s UK tour dates will now be televised, with the dates in London and Glasgow being recorded and broadcast as weekly show Impact Wrestling.

Special family packages are available for the Maximum Impact tour until the end of November.

Fans buying four tickets (two adults, two children) will receive a 20 per cent discount. Tickets and packages are available direct from the Phones 4U Arena or via Ticketmaster, Gigs and Tours or TNA’s Facebook page.
