Protest held to reclaim Manchester Pride

A ‘Reclaim Pride’ protest was held in Manchester’s Sackville Gardens today to highlight key issues facing the city’s LGBT community.

Will Belshah organised the event with support from Manchester’s Gay Village and the LGBT Against Islamophobia Manchester group.

The event aimed to start conversations about important topics including; the commercialisation of Pride, trans rights, anti-racism and LGBT healthcare.

Manchester Pride recently announced it would stop funding the LGBT Foundation’s Safer Sex scheme after 27 years, this announcement sparked conversations around what Manchester Pride is doing as an organisation to support LGBT organisations in Manchester.
