How using plants to dye clothes can help combat fast fashion

Small businesses around Greater Manchester are using plants as a method of dyeing clothing – in an effort to challenge fast fashion giants. 

The artisanal dyers collect resources from nearby woods, such as oak galls and safflower, to pigment the clothes. 

As home to online fashion brands such as Missguided, Boohoo and JD Williams, Manchester is quickly becoming the fast-fashion capital of the UK. 

Will the surge in popularity of plant dyeing be enough to challenge the vastly detrimental environmental impact of synthetic dyes used in fast fashion?
