Boy, 8, in serious condition after being hit by Mercedes

An eight-year-old boy has been left in a serious condition after being hit by a Mercedes in Rusholme last night. 

Police were called at around 8pm to the collision involving a 29-year-old driver who hit the young boy outside Manchester Academy High School on Moss Lane East, Rusholme. 

The driver remains in custody after he was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury through careless driving. 

Police Constable Simon Venguedasalon, of GMPs Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: ”A young boy was seriously injured last night and we need to establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision.

“I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident, or anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam footage, to please contact us at your earliest opportunity.”
