Drug dealer behind bars after police find haul of MDMA with street value of £100,000 in Hulme

A giant MDMA haul worth £100,000 found in Hulme has led to a drug dealer being jailed for four years.

Micheal Lynn, 30, originally from Rhynie Drive, Glasgow, was sentenced to four in prison years after pleading guilty to possession with intent to supply class A drugs at an earlier hearing.

MDMA is usually the desired ingredient in ‘ecstasy’ pills, but is often sold in crystal form like this too.

Lynn’s was stopped by police officers Medlock Street on December 20, 2013.

When police searched his car they found a rucksack in the passenger foot well containing an extremely large amount of  crystallised substance wrapped up in layers.

He was arrested and charged at the scene.

After the drug was forensically examined, the substance was found to be MDMA. If sold the drug would have been worth over £100,000.

MDMA is a common drug in the club scene and has high profile links to dance music culture in the late 80s and early 90s.

Detective Laura Sheppey, from Longsight police station, said: “This was a significant find of drugs that thankfully will not make it to the streets. MDMA, alongside other drugs, spreads misery across the community.

“This is one step in making sure the dealers do not make any money out of their illegitimate ways and the public are protected.

“I would ask anyone who may have information on the supply or production of drugs to contact us. The information you supply will be kept in the strictest of confidence.”
