A man has been abducted in broad daylight from Market Street, dragged through the city centre and forced onto a train to Wigan with the threat of violence.
Police are appealing for witnesses in connection with the abduction, which took place shortly before 7:30pm on Thursday June 3.
The victim was walking along Market Street and as he reached the Jessops shop two men approached him from behind him.
The offenders then grabbed and threatened the victim before dragging him through the city centre to Manchester Victoria train station.
In the station they threatened the man with violence, forcing him onto a train to Wigan where they demanded he take them to a house there.
The victim was described by the police as wearing a red coloured beanie hat and a black jumper with a large picture of Iron Man on the front – they are hoping this description will jog someone’s memory.
One man has been charged in connection with the incident and police are looking for a second man they wish to speak to.
The man police are looking for is described as white and, at the time of the incident, was wearing an Adidas tracksuit and sunglasses on his head.
Detective Constable Kelly-Anne Featherstone urged members of the public to come forward.
She said: “It happened in a busy shopping area in broad daylight, so there may well be passers-by who witnessed what happened.
“If you did see what happened then please call us immediately.”
